How pickup works for damaged vehicles
Schedule Your Pickup
Once you fill out our online donation form, we'll arrange a convenient time for pickup. Our team will contact you to confirm details and provide an estimated arrival time.
Prepare for the Pickup
Ensure there’s clear access for a 25-foot flatbed truck. You don’t need to worry about diagnostics; we’re equipped to manage non-running vehicles directly.
Vehicle Pickup
Our flatbed truck will arrive on the scheduled date to load your vehicle. If it's locked, we can still access it; locksmith services are not required.
Receive Your Documentation
After the pickup, you will receive a 1098-C form for your tax records, detailing the donation of your vehicle to Penn Heritage Rides.
Honest value expectations
Donating a non-running vehicle can yield a tax deduction based on the actual sale proceeds after the car is auctioned, typically ranging from $200 to $800. Factors affecting value include the vehicle’s year, make, condition of the wheels, and high-value components like the catalytic converter or aluminum parts. Higher values may apply if an engine rebuild is documented, while salvage-only conditions could result in lower values. It's crucial to have realistic expectations regarding your vehicle's worth when donated.
Diagnose or donate?
Before spending money on diagnostics or repairs, consider whether it makes sense to donate your non-running vehicle. If you think repair costs may exceed the vehicle's worth, saving time and money by donating might be the better option. We'll handle everything from pickup to paperwork, so you can focus on what matters most without extra financial burdens.
Pennsylvania pickup specifics
Pennsylvania has a variety of flatbed towing companies experienced with non-running vehicle pickups. This means you can expect a smooth transaction without additional burdens. Additionally, state regulations on abandoned vehicles may provide further incentive to safely and responsibly donate vehicles that are no longer operable, rather than leaving them in a lot or on the street.
